Man knocked down while crossing road, dies

KUCHING: A pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a lorry near Kampung Rampangi, along Jalan Sultan Tengah yesterday.

The victim, identified as Awang Kadri Awang Kadir, 38, of Kampung Rampangi, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alex son Na ga Ch a bus aid early investigation established that the victim was heading towards a bus stop across the road when he was run over by the lorry travelling towards Santubong around 2pm.

“The body was sent to Sarawak General Hospital and the case has been classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
