MIRI: Since becoming the sixth chief minister of Sarawak on Jan 13, 2017, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has managed to bring Sarawak to a higher level with a new dimension.

In saying this, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said Sarawakians are enjoying the results of Abang Johari’s steady leadership even in a short period of time.

“Armed with an experience with the ruling government for over 30 years and having held various positions from assistant minister to full minister, CM Abang Jo (Abang Johari) has launched the right development agenda.

“This is the difference between a leader who really has the ability, and one who acts smart.

“A leader like this is what we want and seek – the pure, clever, understanding leader who understands the feelings and needs of the people,” said Dennis yesterday, in honouring Abang Johari’s second year as Sarawak Chief Minister on Sunday.

Being so grateful for what Abang Johari has done for Sarawak since being appointed as the chief minister, Dennis said the rural residents in Ulu Baram especially in Telang Usan and Mulu constituencies are grateful to God for placing Abang Johari as Sarawak Chief Minister and a leader extraordinaire.

“Continuing the efforts of previous chief ministers who had succeeded in putting Sarawak in a relatively good stead today, the intelligence endowed by God to CM Abang Jo has enabled us to inspire the development of new ways especially those brought to our constituencies with the establishment of the Highland Development Agency ( HDA).

“HDA is a pure inspiration from Abang Jo and through HDA, the state government has approved RM1.5 billion to implement basic infrastructure projects in Telang Usan and Mulu state constituencies,” revealed Dennis.

Dennis pointed out that before Abang Johari became the chief minister, there were indeed efforts to develop the rural areas, but no federal and state leaders had taken bold action like Abang Johari.

“Never in the history of Telang Usan and Mulu had the government provided incredible and special provisions for the development of our constituencies of Telang Usan and Mulu, like what CM Abang Jo and the state government did.

“This is the first phase and CM Abang Jo promised as long as he continues to be entrusted with leading the state, he will continue with these tireless efforts,” said Dennis.

“For me, our people shall give a strong and unwavering support to CM Abang Jo and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to continue with development in Sarawak, especially in the rural areas,” he emphasised.

Dennis reiterated that under the leadership of Abang Johari, many new initiatives were introduced including digital economy, the Development Bank of Sarawak ( DBOS), and Petroleum Sarawak Bhd ( Petros).

Deputy State Secretary Datu Jaul Samion (front right) presents to Abang Johari the book detailing the chief minister’s 65 initiatives, witnessed by Uggah (on Abang Johari’s left) and members of the Sarawak Cabinet.
