DAM wel­comes pub­lic to Nga­jat Dance Class 2019

MIRI: Dayak As­so­ci­a­tion of Miri (DAM) wel­comes in­ter­ested mem­bers of pub­lic to join its Nga­jat Dance Class 2019.

Or­gan­is­ing chair­man Jac­que­line Se­laka Mawar said the twom­onth Nga­jat dance class will be con­ducted in col­lab­o­ra­tion with In­dus­trial Train­ing In­sti­tute ( ILP) Miri.

“From Feb 4 un­til April 4 the class will be con­ducted on Tues­days, Wed­nes­days and Thurs­days start­ing 7pm to 9pm,” she said when con­ducted by The Bor­neo Post yes­ter­day.

“The as­so­ci­a­tion’s fi rst Nga­jat dance class for both male and fe­male was con­ducted in early 1990s at the as­so­ci­a­tion’s premises but not as an an­nual af­fair.

“The as­so­ci­a­tion started hav­ing Nga­jat dance class on a yearly ba­sis start­ing 2008 with cer­tifi­cates pre­sented to par­tic­i­pants,” she re­vealed.

Due to the high de­mand for the class, it will be con­ducted at ILP Miri’s Intrim hall to ac­com­mo­date more par­tic­i­pants.

Ac­cord­ing to Jac­que­line, fees for the whole du­ra­tion of the course is nom­i­nal to en­cour­age more peo­ple to take up Nga­jat.

Stu­dents and chil­dren of mem­bers aged 7 to 12 years need only pay RM25 each while fees for those above 13 years and non-mem­bers is RM50 each.

Reg­is­tra­tion forms are avail­able at the as­so­ci­a­tion’s premises or ILP Miri.
