Idris stands his ground on his reaction to Lo’s statement

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) information chief Dato Idris Buang says he has ‘reliable proof’ that MTUC Sarawak Division secretary Andrew Lo’s statement on the recent detention of 40 Sarawakians in Cambodia was not endorsed by the union.

Idris was reacting to Lo’s response to his earlier statement on the MTUC official’s accusation that the Sarawak government had not created enough decent-paying jobs for Sarawakians.

“I have got proof from a ‘ very reliable insider’ that the statement issued by Andrew Lo, Secretary of MTUC Sarawak Division, was never brought first to any of their councils or board meeting.

“I have the evidence that the statement by its chairman Mohd Ibrahim, is just a mere ‘afterthought’- a face-saving effort so to speak.

“No way could all 70,000 workers under MTUC’s banner in Sarawak, which include my own friends and relatives, be blindly bound by his said statement.

“I have the proof which I hereby promise to reveal if the situation warrants it so that the truth will prevail,” Idris said in a statement yesterday.

The Muara Tuang assemblyman backed his statement by pointing out that he was a trained police investigator and also a criminal trial lawyer.

“I know what truth is and what is otherwise. Truths can never be the same as lies,” he said.
