SJK Chung Hua Marudi praised for holding festive gathering

MARUDI: Baram deputy education officer James Valley Anak Michael Harry praised SJK Chung Hua Marudi board of directors and teachers for organising its yearly Chinese New Year ( CNY) celebratio­n for students from various racial and religious background.

James made the remark when representi­ng Baram education officer Mathew Laing Ngau at a CNY gathering at the school multipurpo­se hall here recently.

He thanked teachers and the board for their efforts in ensuring the festive event this year materialis­ed.

“I believed SJK Chung Hua Marudi has managed to celebrate, through this gathering, the spirit of unity , religious tolerance and racial harmony among the various races.

“So, putting race and religion aside, we all should take steps to improve the line of communicat­ion with one another to strengthen relationsh­ip and unity for the sake of our nation’s future,” James added.

He further said joint efforts by all relevant parties such as the school, its management and Parent-Teacher Associatio­n ( PTA) are vital so that activities organised will benefit students and help to promote unity among them.

James on behalf of the Ministry of Education also thanked the school management and school headmaster for improving facilities at the school.

Also present at the function were board of directors chairman Pemanca Chung Chin Hui, headmaster Tie Wei Siang and PTA’s chairlady Tiong Chu Ling.
