KUCHING: A man who was arrested and remanded last month in connection with the Cambodia jobs scam has been released on police bail upon the expiry of his remand order.

maximum seven days for the remand order. The suspect was arrested of Feb 23 and remanded from Feb 23 to March 3 (yesterday),” he said in a statement yesterday.

Mustafa Kamal disclosed that the remand order on the other two suspects – a man and a woman both aged 35 – expires today after also entering the maximum sevenday period. Both have been under remand since Feb 25.

All three are being probed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. They were arrested over an alleged jobs scam which saw 47 Malaysians, including 40 from Sarawak, land in a Cambodian prison.

The detainees were released after the Cambodian government ruled that they were victims of a jobs scam, and returned to Malaysia on Feb 17.
