MIRI: Issues concerning the rights of Sarawak, as enshrined in Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), remain among the key priorities of Sarawak government.

Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus called upon fellow Sarawakians to continue supporting and working with the Sarawak government to regain Sarawak’s rights from the federal government.

She highlighted this in her speech prior to declaring open a talk on ‘ Rosli Dhoby and Rukun 13’ at Masjid Darul Istiqamah in Kampung Luak on Saturday.

The programme was conducted by Amanah Khairat Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak (AKYBMS) in collaboration with Miri Malay Charitable Trust Board ( LAKMM) and the management committee of Masjid Darul Istiqamah.

On the talk, Rosey pointed out that the chosen topic focused on Sarawak Malay nationalism and the history of the early Malays hundreds of years ago.

“Rosli Dhoby and Rukun 13 were, collectively, the symbol of bravery. These young were very determined to safeguard the country and its people against foreign colonisation.”

Rosey, who is Bekenu assemblywoman, wanted today’s young generation to learn from Rosli Dhoby and his fellow patriots under the Rukun 13 movement, and emulate their spirit and determination.

The event also hosted Miri Resident Mastapa Julaihi, Miri District Officer Abdul Aziz Mohamad Yusuf, AKYBMS general manager Datu Dr Sanib Said and local Malay community leader Penghulu Samion Gani.
