SIBU: The Lions Club of Sibu Mandarin has always contributed towards making a difference in the lives of the needy in the community since its formation 30 years ago.

“All members deserve this grand anniversary celebration to rejoice and refresh the meaningful work of Lions while remembering the history of the club,” said district governor 308A2 Tiong Yong Tiing during the club’s 30th anniversary cum charity night held at Kingwood Hotel on Saturday.

More than that, Tiong added, the event was for members to connect and continue with action plans to bring about sustainable membership experience while meeting humanitarian needs and challenges.

“I am pleased to see Lions Club of Sibu Mandarin moving forward especially with greater involvement of young dynamic leaders supported by senior Lions leaders.

“Charter president, Hu Yu Siong is a leader by example. The success of the club lies on the strong foundation of understanding, cooperation and harmony amongst all levels, gender and age groups,” he pointed out.

Tiong said the successful club twinning between Lions Club of Sibu Mandarin and Kota Kinabalu Centennial Lions Club marked another milestone for both clubs.

The past international director of Lions Clubs International Datin Ellis Suriyati Omar, president of Lions Club of Sibu Mandarin Alex Yii and president of Kota Kinabalu Centennial Lions Club Anny Poh were among those present.
