PGSK holds ‘Kapit Got Talent Night’ to raise funds for hospital
KAPIT: The ‘ Kapit Got Talent Night’ that took place at the civic centre here on Saturday night was attended by some 600 guests comprising Kapit Hospital personnel, staff of corporate firms, contractors, heads of departments, community leaders and individuals – all coming together to support this annual fundraising activity run by the Post Graduate Society For Kapit Hospital ( PGSK).
The guest- of- honour was Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang.
The event patron Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Kapit Hospital director Dr Ivan Boon, political secretary to the chief minister Nicholas Kudi and Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit were also present.
The activities of the night included solo singing, dancing, sketch play and acting, as well as a live band performance by the staff of Kapit Hospital.
In his speech, Nyabong lauded PGSK for their high spirit of comradeship in holding this successful activity.

He said the event also served to celebrate the achievement by Kapit Hospital for being awarded the prestigious accreditation by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health, in recognition of its compliance with the Malaysia Hospital Accreditation.
Nyabong later announced a grant of RM10,000 from Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing and RM5,000 from himself to PGSK.
Meanwhile in his speech, Jamit also commended PGSK, chaired by Dr Hii King Ching, for being innovative and creative in organising a ‘lively and fun-filled activity’ meant to raise funds towards enabling Kapit Hospital to continue providing quality health- care to its patients.
“I would like to congratulate you on your fine effort in organising this fundraising activity. PGSK deserves commendation. As an elected people’s representative, I would like to say ‘ thank you’ to all healthcare workers for your dedication and commitment in looking after the patients and the general public.
“The presence of a large crowd here proves the support from the public. Thank you, Kapit community, for being responsive to and supportive of this event, making it a success,” he said.
He also congratulated the healthcare workers of Kapit Hospital for putting up a splendid performance to entertain the crowd.
“We enjoyed your show of talents in solo singing, dancing, acting, (and) live band performance. You have hidden talents, apart from your profession,” Jamit added.
He then called upon other agencies, clubs, organisations and associations to emulate PGSK in doing activities for the good for the local community.
He then announced government grant of RM5,000 for PGSK.
In her speech, Dr Hii appealed to the crowd to support the PGSK.
“By supporting the PGSK, you indirectly help the hospital and its patients. PGSK appreciates you participation and contribution,” she said.
