Winning start for Team Titans, Blue Lobsters in KGS-OBYU Championship
KUCHING: Team Titans kicked off their campaign in the KGS-OBYU Team Match Play Championship in style when they outplayed HGA 3.5-1.5 at the Santubong Nines at Kelab Golf Sarawak last Saturday.
The victory put them in second spot in Group A with three points behind J& J5 on points difference after the latter beat Harmoni 4-1 in their opener on Feb 24.
HGA and Harmoni are third and fourth in the group after losing one match.
In Group D, the leaders are defending champions Mafia Hukum who also registered a winning start on Feb 24 when they edged PGABS 3-2.
PGABS suf fered a second consecutive defeat last Saturday, falling 2- 3 to the Hoan Kee Hockled HKH, ruling themselves out of contention for the challenge trophy.
Meanwhile, Blue Lobsters 3.0 also made an impressive start to their campaign when they defeated Cahya Mata 3.5-1.5 to go second in Group C after the leaders Hanking Warriors who produced the biggest win thus far by beating KPGA 4.50.5.
Tee Off Club grabbed an early lead in Group B where they edged Hojipala 3-2.
In second place are DGA Kaban who drew 2.5-2.5 with KGS Junior Team followed by KGS Junior Team and Hojipala.
The competition resumes this Saturday (Mar 9) when DGA Kaban take on Hojipala, Harmoni face Team Titans, Mafia Hukum against HKH and Hanking Warriors play Blue Lobsters 3.0.
On Sunday (Mar 10), the fixtures are Hanking Warriors versus Cahya Mata, KPGA versus Blue Lobsters 3.0, Harmoni versus HGA and DGA Kaban versus Tee Off Club.
