75 pct St Anthony’s students continue studies after SPM

SARIKEI: Around 75 per cent of SMK St Anthony students continue their education after their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM).

Principal Vincent Liong said, based on records from past years, the students either enrol in pre- university courses such as Form 6, matriculat­ion, foundation, or A-Levels, or begin diploma courses.

He said this is why the school fully supports programmes to enlighten students on courses offered by various public or private institutio­ns of higher learning.

Liong commended the school’s guidance and counsel ling unit for col laborating with Academic Consultant Sibu to hold the Education Expo 2019 yesterday.

Sarikei member of parliament Andrew Wong Ling Biu, who of f iciated at the event, said the expo could help students to choose the right path for their educationa­l pursuits.

He said the correct course would ensure them bet ter prospects for employabi lity upon graduation.

The expo participan­ts were Swinburne Unive r s i t y o f Technology, Curtin University, City College Plymouth, UCSI University, Segi College Sarawak, UCTS, The One Academy, Riam Institute of Technology, Methodist Pilley Institute, Fajar Internatio­nal College, Sunway Col lege Kuching, Lai la Taib College, Asia Pacific University, Essential Advisory, ITA College, Technology College Sarawak, Internatio­nal Medical College, The University of Nottingham Malaysia, Help University, Sarawak Skills Developmen­t Centre, Fame Internatio­nal College, Tunku Abdul Rahman University Col lege, Teacher Education Inst itute Rajang Campus, Metro Betong Sarawak Polytechni­c, and National Higher Education Fund Corporatio­n.
