Deputy Education DG puts forward several ideas to enhance nation’s educational excellence
KUCHING: Deputy directorgeneral of Education ( Teacher’s Professionalism Development) DatukSulaimanWakhassuggested that the Malaysia Headmasters Council ( MGB) could do a few things to enhance the nation’s educational excellence.
He listed proactive and responsive leadership principles on new demands which prioritise customers; realising the importance of unity while not compromising with elements that could break unity; and exhibiting the true national spirit and genuine understanding of the National Education Philosophy and the principles of Rukun Negara as among them.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 37th National Representatives of the Affiliated Malaysian Headmasters Council ( GMGBM) conference at a local hotel yesterday, he said the school leadership has an important role in ensuring the delivery of quality education to students because the quality of education at the school is highly dependent on the skills and professionalism of the teachers.
“The quality of the students will only come about through quality and ethical management practices which emphasise learning culture and lifelong learning. The school leadership also has an important role in ensuring the delivery of quality education to students,” he added.
Hence, principals play a very important role in helping to realise the wishes of the Ministry of Education ( MOE) to propel the national education system to greater heights, he stressed.
Meanwhile, 10 resolutions were presented during the ceremony - among them more time should be spent by students with teachers, requesting for more teachers to teach students at a balanced ratio and utilising classrooms properly.
GMGBM extended its gratitude to the director- general of Education Datuk Dr Amin Senin for the support to upgrade headmasters to DG48 and the upgrading of primary school senior assistants to at least DG44.
