Jamit inspects newly completed RC Ramp at Nanga Melipis
KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat yesterday visited Melipis to inspect the recently completed RC Ramp at Nanga Melipis.
The RC Ramp was constructed at a cost of RM500,000.00 at the bank of Rajang River connecting to Jalan Melipis which was recently upgraded and tar-sealed at a cost of RM7 million.
The RC Ramp benefits six Iban longhouses along Sungai Melipis from Nanga to Ulu Sungai Melipis. Previously, the longhouse folks depended on Sungai Melipis to travel using longboat which was time consuming and tiring because of the choppy shallow water during dry season, requiring the boat to be pulled at times.
The road has made it very convenient and fast to move from Nanga Melipis to the rural areas.
Jamit was happy that the contractor had completed the RC Ramp on time.
“I wish to thank the GPS Sarawak Government for approving the fund for the RC Ramp and to upgrade and tar-seal Jalan Melipis,” he said.
