Associations mark Mother’s Day with dinner
KUCHING: Mothers and their hard work should be celebrated every day as maternal love is the cornerstone of social harmony.
Federation of KuchingSamarahan Chinese Associations Women chief Liu Moi Kiaw made this call on Sunday night at the Mother’s Day Dinner cum Super Mother of the Year Competition organised by the federation.

The dinner was attended by Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia Women chief Ng Geok Chee, Federation of Miri Division Chinese Associations president Datuk Hii Teck Yun, Federation of Chinese Associations Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions president Dato Richard Wee and Kuching Foochow Association president Wong Tiong Hook.
The guest of honour was the Chief Minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang who was represented by Datin Dr Zaleha Abdullah.
Meanwhile, in her speech, Ng urged more homemakers to take advantage of the i- Suri and eKasih systems set in place by the government.
“It’s not easy to be a mother, and even more so if you are a single mother.
“Thus, I wish to urge more mothers and homemakers to take advantage of i- Suri and e-Kasih. Even though the allocation does not seem like a lot, it can actually help to ease your burden slightly.
“The most important factor about these policies is that it reminds us to give homemakers their due recognition for their contributions to the family,” Ng stated.
