Gawai beauty pageant for plus-size women to be held
MIRI: Plus- size women are invited to participate in Miss and Mrs Plus Gawai 2019.
“The beauty of a woman is measured not only by her external physical appearance but her inner beauty as well,” said organising chairperson Rebecca Nanta who visited Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin to get his ministry’s endorsement and sponsorship of the pageant.
Organised by Sociolytic Sdn Bhd and Persatuan Rumah Dayak Miri with the support of Miri City Council, the main objective is to celebrate and empower plus- size women to be world changers.
“We are driven to bring out the inner self- confidence within by providing one-month intense training to finalists,” said Rebecca.
The pageant, for women wearing dress size of at least XXL and weighing minimum 80kg, is divided into two age groups: Miss title for those aged 20 to 28 years and Mrs title for 29 to 35 years of age.
“We are targeting 20 contestants, 10 from each category to embark on an unforgettable journey,” she added.
The grand finale will be held on June 22 here in conjunction with Gawai celebration.
