Pepsar selects eight best for National C’ship

BINTULU: Sarawak Petanque Associatio­n ( Pepsar) has selected eight players to represent the state in the National Championsh­ip for the Malaysian Petanque Federation (MPF) Cup to be held in Seremban, Negri Sembilan from April 27-28.

The national tournament will be the platform to select players to represent the country in the SEA Games at the end of the year.

Sarawak’s best four men and best four women were selected during a state-level selection competitio­n at Jepak Petanque Arena here.

The men selected are Muhd Fuad Augustine Abdullah ( Sri Aman), Muhammad Aiman Yusoh Azih (Betong), Mohammad Fazlie Hisham Sapiee ( Kuching) and Azman Adenan ( Bintulu).

The women are Sufiqriyan­i Edie ( Betong), Nur Atiqah Abdullah@ Margaret ( Sarikei), Mahariah Rahim ( Limbang) and Fatimah Nahar ( Mukah).

Prizes were given out by Pepsar president Othman Mat.

According to Othman, the selec t ion compe t i ton was pa r t icip ated by p etanque associatio­ns from all divisions except Kapit.

Each division was represente­d by four best players in both categories.

Among those present at the prize giving ceremony on Sunday night were Pepsar vice president Abg Shamsudin Abg Ahmad, secretary Janudin Ab Rahman and committee member-cum-team manager to the upcoming MPF Cup Hinsan Ra’ee.
