Sarawak govt via Tegas seeks to equip students with skills
LAWAS: TheSarawakgovernment through Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak ( Tegas) will continue to work closely with the relevant bodies for the benefit of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students.
Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong reiterated that Parti Gabungan Sarawak ( GPS) would ensure Sarawakians are successful by equipping them with the necessary skills.
He said the new generation needs to adapt and equip themselves well with relevant skills to take advantage of available opportunities in today’s industrial and digital era.
“Hence, a high level of education coupled with being highly skilled are needed to enhance their competitiveness and versatility in all aspects of their endeavours.
“Parents too need to keep abreast with the changing environment and encourage their children to take up vocational and technical trainings to meet challenges in this day and age,” he said when officiating the 5th Project of Dreams Realised ( Pro- DR) Roadshow 2019 at a hotel here on Tuesday.
Henry proposed that similar Tegas programme be organised more frequently in the rural areas to ensure more people could benefit from it.
The Tegas roadshow is the biggest educational tour organised by the Sarawak government with the participation of 45 educational institutions and agencies. The Lawas leg is the roadshow’s final destination.
Also present were Lawas District Officer Ladin Atok, Pemanca Rosli Majid and Tegas manager (STEM & Digital Outreach) Fredick Kevin Buseli who represented Tegas chief executive officer Awangku Merali Pengiran Mohamed.
