GrabFood to launch delivery service in Kuching, 4 other cities
KUCHING: Grab will launch its GrabFood delivery service simultaneously here and in Penang, Melaka, Johor Bahru, and Kota Kinabalu on April 22.
The service has been available in the Klang Valley since last year.
Grab Malaysia country head Sean Goh explained the move comes after GrabFood, which was a separate app, migrated into a single Grab app yesterday (April 17).
“The migration and expansion to the other cities should complete by mid-May and customers can look forward to continuous updates and improvements. We welcome feedback and suggestions from our customers, especially in our new five cities of restaurants they want to see on GrabFood,” he said on Tuesday.
Goh said since the launch of the service last year, GrabFood has enjoyed a steady 30 per cent growth monthly and has completed more than two million deliveries so far.
He said restaurants on GrabFood have also recorded a 10 to 20 per cent increase in revenue.
“With access to a much wider customer base, they can no doubt expect more orders. And whilst that may be daunting for those in the food service industry, they will have the flexibility to manage their own ‘online restaurant’.
“For example, they can opt to ‘ temporarily close’ when the kitchen is busy and therefore, do not want to extend waiting time to hamper their customer’s experience,” said Goh.
He added more orders for these restaurants equate to more earnings for Grab’s fleet of delivery-partners.
“This will enable them to manage their daily expenses and savings better, and thus, have more control in building a better livelihood.”
