KUCHING: Allianz Malaysia recently brought back its successful REACT Crime Survival Programme to equip employees with crime prevention and survival skills.

Crime Statistics Malaysia 2018 reported a total of 77,802 cases of property crimes and 21,366 cases of violent crimes occurred in 2017, with 42,160 car thefts, 16,200 break-ins, 14,128 robberies, and 239 snatch theft incidents.

Safety activist and emergency survival trainer Captain K Bala Supramaniam conducted the REACT crime and survival programme on Wednesday at the company’s head office at Menara Allianz Sentral in Kuala Lumpur for 69 employees.

The programme emphasised skills and techniques during snatch theft attempts, mugging, violent attacks and carjacking as well as virtual kidnapping and luggage tempering. Also given were safety tips to adopt at a petrol station, car park, or when making ATM withdrawal as well as when using a taxi or e-hailing service.

“Crime and violence are increasingly prevalent in our society. Through this programme, we hope to equip our employees with preventive and basic safety defence and survival skills to protect themselves and their families,” said Allianz Malaysia Berhad Allianz4Good Head Ng Siew Gek in a press release.

Allianz Malaysia aims to continue its efforts to create awareness on safety and survival by organising such programmes to raise the level of awareness among employees, added Ng.
