Education promoters from China visit UCTS

SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak ( UCTS) yesterday received a visit of some 40 educators from the various universiti­es and institutio­ns of higher learning in China.

UCTS Associate Professor Dr Wong Sing Sing guided them in their tour of the university premises.

Its vice chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid said the visitors had only heard about UCTS before their visit.

“Now, they’ve the chance to know in depth what we have to offer to our students.

“They are very impressed with UCTS and are keen to collaborat­e with us in promoting education in the near future,” Khairuddin said of the visitors after the visit.

The visitors, from Changzhou Technical Institute of Tourism and Commerce; Changsha District Vocational Technical College; Guangxi University of Finance and Economics; Hunan Communicat­ion Engineerin­g Polytechni­c; Hunan Vocational Col lege of Modern Logistics; Yichun Vocational Technical College; Guangxi Polytechni­c of Constructi­on; Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages; Nanjing City Vocational College; and the Yunnan Agricultur­al University were led during the visit by Sarawak China Graduates Alumni Associatio­n president Wong Siu Eing.

Khairuddin had told them that their students may come to UCTS to do part of their study and finish their degree either here or back in their country.

“We are ready for collaborat­ion through student exchange programme or any joint programme with them,” he said.
