PKR eyes Bukit Semuja seat in next election

SERIAN: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak is looking to contest in Bukit Semuja seat during the next state election.

Vice - chairman Nicholas Bawin Anggat said the party has tremendous support in Bukit Semuja as well as Tebedu, which are located in Serian.

“I want to reiterate here that PKR Serian branch and its subbranche­s should work in earnest in preparatio­n to face the 12th state election,” he said when officiatin­g at PKR Serian general meeting recently.

The meeting was held to form PKR Serian’s office bearers for the term 2019 to 2021.

During the 2016 state election, the opposition coalition allocated Bukit Semuja to Democratic Action Party (DAP), which fielded Edward Andrew Luwak.

John Ilus, then from Barisan Nasional and now with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), won the seat with a majority of 3,144 votes.

During PKR Serian meeting, Cyril Langin and Reginald Abel were retained as chairman and deputy chairman.

Also retained was treasurer Alex Saben Nyepong, who also kept his position as permanent chairman.

Matthew American Lidud, Ramli Tosen, and Jengga Jeli are vicechairm­en, while Tommy Sara, Bernard Andok, and Melvin Lisan Atuk are secretary, informatio­n chief, and organising secretary respective­ly.

The elected committee members are Ading Koo, Sapiee Chinong, Serampin Jasam Liuk, Ajan Panji, Mirau Jahi, Muhd Hafiz Abdullah, Thuma Ganda, Lanta Sungan, Kon Jiew Kit, Abang Hishamudin Abang Unin, Sirau Yal, Thomas Daling, Kakol Banchang, Kepli Apok, and Miguel Durim.

Matthew Vincent Laik, Jadi Gamara, Besel Lagir, Achan Philip Angkok, and Nyawa Seroja are the appointed committee members.

Bawin said he was satisfied with PKR Serian line up, pointing out that Reginald was also recently appointmen­t a PKR Sarawak leadership council member. He said the appointmen­t would enable the party to pursue more activities and programmes in Serian.
