M’sia Airlines inks agreement for MHexplorer

-

KUCHING: Malaysia Airlines has announced a partnership agreement with Brand Expedia, Grab and Maxis to offer further benefits to its MHexplorer product – the airline’s fully digitalised student travel programme.

MHexplorer offers students 20 per cent fare discounts all year round, with additional 10kg baggage allowance for all classes, one complimentary travel date change, special friends and family promotion, and Enrich miles.

Through this partnership, MHexplorer has been expanded beyond just flight tickets.

For Brand Expedia under the MHexplorer programme, students will be able to enjoy 8 per cent off domestic hotels and 10 per cent off for international hotels.

Grab Transportation to airports is also covered with the partnership with Grab enabling members to benefit from an 8 per cent discount on Grab cars to and from KLIA, Penang International Airport, Senai International Airport, Kuching International Airport, and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

Maxis MHexplorer members can also save RM120 when they sign up for a Hotlink Flex Plus plan, which comes with 10GB data and unlimited calls and SMS. The mobile plan, which originally costs RM60 per month will now cost RM50 per month, over a duration of 12 months.

Any Hotlink or Maxis customer who signs up for the MHexplorer programme will also stand a chance to win flight tickets to Bali, Tokyo, Seoul, or Osaka.

During the MHexplorer Friends and Family promotion, Hotlink and Maxis customers also enjoy two times Enrich miles when they purchase flight tickets.

All they need to do is download the promotional code from their Hotlink Flex, Hotlink RED, or MyMaxis apps, and key it in when making the purchase. Malaysia Airlines group chief revenue officer Ignatius Ong said they have already seen great take up for the MHexplorer programme since its launch in October last year.

“Today, it has been expanded further to include even more exciting benefits for members. We understand the needs and concerns of our younger travellers and these partnerships go a long way in addressing them. Travelling can be expensive and confusing for the first-time traveller. There are flights to secure, taxis to book, hotels to research, as well as mobile coverage to ensure. All of these on top of a budget to be mindful of.

“These new benefits look at the travel experience holistically, allowing our students to plan and book their complete travel itinerary all on one convenient platform and with great discounts as well. Now is the perfect time for students to sign up with MHexplorer. Let Malaysia Airlines and our great partners take care of the details leaving students the time to enjoy the actual travel experience,” he said.

Meanwhile, Brand Expedia regional head of communications Lavinia Rajaram said that Expedia spends every day looking for ways to improve the travel experience for travellers through the use of technology and data science, bringing them better choices, simplicity in booking through their web and mobile app, with greater savings.

“We are very excited to bring Expedia’s extensive access of more than one million properties globally, including thousands of amazing ones in Southeast Asia coupled with more than 35,000 plus activities around the world to student travellers of Malaysia Airlines. Our collaboration with Malaysia Airlines is one more step forward on our journey to introducing more affordable travel options, and we are hoping our student communities will enjoy their holiday experience as much as they enjoy their Malaysian hospitality with our national carrier,” she said.

Commenting on the partnership, Grab Malaysia head of operations Rashid Shukor said that Grab is honoured to serve as Malaysia Airlines’ dedicated land transport partner for the MHexplorer programme.

“We are always on the lookout for partnerships that allow us to solve local problems and add value to our passengers. Through this partnership and commitment towards innovation, students will now have safe, convenient and cost effective rides.

“This will definitely improve the overall travel convenience for them, hence we are incredibly excited about what we’re going to achieve together,” he said.

Maxis head of brand and partnerships Tai Kam Leong is also thrilled by the partnership.

“We are thrilled to be partnering Malaysia Airlines on their MHexplorer programme to offer our customers great value that they deserve. At Maxis, we are constantly creating meaningful ways to engage and reward customers with deals that are relevant to their lifestyles.

“Customers can check out their Hotlink Flex, Hotlink RED, or MyMaxis apps, which give them access to over 250 deals on food and beverages, travel and services, shopping, entertainment, and health and beauty,” he said.
