This is the first time that they are representing the country at an international competition.

The team had undergone intensive training at Sunway Megalanes under the Malaysian Sports Deaf Association.

The championship is organised by the Phi l ippines Spor ts Federation of the Deaf and the categories include men’s and women’s singles, doubles, trios, and masters.

SSDeaf president Albert Wong is hoping that the Malaysian team can obtain an excellent result in the championship and most importantly this can be the platform for them to build up their confidence as well as to get to know bowlers from other countries.

There will be more international championships coming up such as the World Deaf Bowl ing Championship in Taiwan in August and Asia Pacific Sports event in Hong Kong this coming November.

Sarawak Deaf Tenpin Bowling Association president Lau Yok Lok said the association will put in more efforts in unearthing and training more talented deaf bowlers in the future for international events.
