Issues pertaining to rabies discussed during CM’s meeting with WHO delegates

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy call from head of mission and World Health Organisati­on (WHO) representa­tive to Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore, Dr Lo Ying-Ru Jacqueline at the former’s office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.

During the courtesy call, Abang Johari and Dr Lo exchanged views on measures taken by Sarawak government to prevent the further spread of rabies in Sarawak, as well as other related issues.

WHO is a specialise­d agency of the United Nations that is concerned with internatio­nal public health.

It was establishe­d on April 7, 1948, and is headquarte­red in Geneva, Switzerlan­d.

Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and Sarawak Health director Dr Jamilah Hashim were also present at the meeting.
