CM hints more goodies awaiting S’wak mums with newborn babies

Good news awaits Sarawakian mothers who have just given birth.

In mentioning this, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said he would make an announcement soon.

“It (announcement) has something to do with the welfare of these mothers and it would help lessen their burden.

“This is for mothers who have just given birth because in the first six months after giving birth, they would need milk and other necessary items for their babies,” he told reporters after officiating at the ceremony marking Sarawak Pay as a mode of payment by KK Super Mart at Kota Sentosa here yesterday.

However, Abang Johari remained tight-lipped regarding the details about this ‘good news’, only stating that he would make the announcement on a later date.

This upcoming assistance would be an addition to the Endowment Fund Sarawak launched earlier this year, where every baby born on Jan 1 this year and onwards would be eligible to receive a one-off incentive of RM1,000.

This incentive could only be withdrawn once the child reaches 18 years of age.

It is meant to help them in their education, or to kick off their careers.
