PBB Batu Kawa holds prawning competitio­n

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Batu Kawa branch held a prawning competitio­n recently to foster closer ties with the community.

Its chairman Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim said the branch is looking at organising the event on an annual basis as it was well received.

“It is my hope that such competitio­ns would foster solidarity among us, regardless of who wins or loses,” he said at the prize presentati­on ceremony held at Kampung Rantau Panjang here recently.

The competitio­n saw 43 participan­ts vying for the top cash prizes of RM700, RM500, RM400, RM300 and RM200.

The sixth place to 30th place participan­ts did not go back empty handed as they received consolatio­n prizes in the form of attractive items.

Meanwhile, Ahmad who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) deputy chairman, called on Sarawakian­s to remain united to ensure harmony and prosperity.

“The spirit of the multi-racial and multi-religious Sarawakian­s is a sentiment that continues to unite us regardless of our race, beliefs and customs. All the developmen­t and prosperity we enjoy today is the result of consensus, understand­ing and respect which have existed for many years,” he said.

Also present was political secretary to the chief minister Tan Kai who represente­d Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
