Sibu savour ‘spectacular’ weekend at Miri 7s
SIBU: Sibu rugby players lifted a record three titles at the 7a-side Miri Hornbill Rugby Championship last weekend.
Sibu Swan Junior won the Cup championship in the U21 category while SMK Sacred Heart were Cup champions in the Boy’s U-18 and Bowl champions in the U-15.
Sibu Division Rugby Union (SDRU) chief coach Michael Ting was thrilled with by results, saying they never expected Sibu teams to give such a spectacular performance.
“In the past, we do return with a Cup champion and a third or fourth placing in other categories but this is the first time that we came back with three titles to showcase. Congratulations to the players,” he said.
Ting noted that the players were reaping the dividends of their hard training for the tournament.
He was particularly impressed with the performance of the U-18 players.
