Contract worker electrocut­ed while installing cables, dies

SIBU: A contract worker of a telecommun­ications company died after he was electrocut­ed while installing cables at a residentia­l area in Jalan Teku, here last Saturday.

The victim, 37, was carrying out the task with two colleagues at Taman Indah when the incident happened around 3pm.

Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel rushed the victim, who was still alive at the time, to Sibu Hospital where he passed away around 4.35pm.

District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a postmortem on the deceased has been scheduled for today (May 6), with police classifyin­g the case as sudden death.
