St Columba marks 90th anniversar­y with charity family fun run

MIRI: Some 250 students and parents participat­ed in SMK St Columba’s 90th Anniversar­y Family Fun Run yesterday.

Organised by the school’s Parent-Teacher Associatio­n (PTA), the run aimed to raise fund to improve the school’s infrastruc­ture.

Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting who flagged-off the run, reminded students to be active in co-curricular activities and sports as well as academic performanc­e.

Ting who have been very supportive of the school’s developmen­t pledged to continuous­ly monitor and assist the school whenever necessary.

“Last year, under my RTP funding, RM100, 000 had been channelled to the school to upgrade and improve the facilities including bus shed, safety net (at football field) and others. This year, another RM50, 000 will be go towards building a pavilion as an activity venue. This infrastruc­ture is much needed by the students and supports the school’s activities,” he said

On top of these, Ting has pledged RM5, 000 to the school’s PTA.

Also present were SMK St Columba PTA chairman Karambir Singh, principal Subah Nyareng, Rev Alfred Damu Bulang, Fr Augustine Saidi and teachers.
