SIBU: A swiftlet farm operator has reported losses amounting RM25,000 after discovering that his farmhouse at Nanga Bilat in Julau has been broken into early Thursday.

About 4kg of bird’s nests were among items found missing from the premises.

Julau police chief DSP Ismuni Umar said the complainant, 60, came to the farmhouse around 8am.

“He could see that a section of the fence had been cut open, a part of the farmhouse’s zinc wall removed, and the door lock tampered with,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

Ismuni said apart from the bird’s nests, the complainant also reported that his closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, a unit of WiFi modem, a CCTV computer set, and three disc drivers were missing.

“Initial investigation showed that the last time the complainant went to his farmhouse was on Aug 20, and his wife went there the following day.

“They did not find anything suspicious at the time,” said Ismuni, adding that the distance between the farmhouse and the main road is about 2km.

Police are investigating.
