Unimas enters into partnerships with QS organisations
KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia ( RISM) has entered into a collaboration that covers many areas of mutual benefits, including a professional staff exchange programme.
The exchange of documents of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on this cooperation was performed by both parties during the International Quantity Surveying Academic Forum (IQSAF) 2019 at DeTAR Putra Unimas in the university’s campus here yesterday.
The IQSAF, held in conjunction with the 23rd Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS), was jointly organised by the RISM, Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM), Unimas and Universiti Teknologi Mara ( UiTM) Kota Samarahan Campus.
“With the theme ‘ Quantity Surveyor as a Project Manager in Digital Age’, the IQSAF serves as an opportunity to gather and access the pool of expertise of QS (quantity surveying) academicians, as well as the PAQS members, institutions, and the delegates attending the annual conference.
“Aligned with the theme of the forum, we are witnessing the exchange of the MoU between Unimas with two professional bodies, BQSM and RISM. Through this, we hope that there would be more industrial cooperation and collaborations that could lead to a better society,” said Unimas vice-chancellor Prof Dato Dr Mohamad Kadim Suadi.
His text-of-speech was read by deputy vice-chancellor (academic and international) Prof Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, who also represented Unimas in exchanging the MoU documents with RISM president Kwan Hock Hai.
Later, Unimas and BQSM announced their collaboration on the bulk registration of Unimas’ QS graduates with the board in accordance with the Quantity Surveyors (Amendment) Act 2015.
This partnership would serve as a part of the university’s industrial engagement initiatives.
The exchange of MoU documents on this partnership were performed by Ahmad Hata and BQSM president, Prof (Adjunct) Dato Aziz Abdullah.
