SEB, JPNS shuttlers share honours in Maksak tourney

KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) edged PDRM A 3-2 to win the MAKSAK Inter-Club Team Badminton Championsh­ip at Persatuan Badminton Bumiputera Sarawak (PBBS) hall in Semariang on Saturday.

Owen Ting delivered the first point for SEB when he beat Sazali Mohd Haizal 21-13, 21-3.

Kelvin Jee-Wong Teck Chung put SEB two-up after overcoming the challenge from Ooi Jin BingAdiza Taha 24-22, 21-14.

However, PDRM A bounced back to win the next two games when Bedindang NyambangKu­jiman Ogus tamed Mochtar Kria-Ting Ching Jung 21-16, 21-12 while Mang Sainuddin-Amirul Seman outplayed Syed Mohd Bolhassan-Aryf Fiqry 21-9, 21-14.

Liew Chee Ing-Aizat Udin produced the winning edge for SEB when they beat Mohd Firdaus Jamal-Dasri Yazi 21-17, 21-12.

Finishing joint third were Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Sarawak (JPNS) and PDRM B.

The top three winners in the women’s category were JPNS, PDRM and Jabatan Kesihatan.

Sarawak Economic Developmen­t Corporatio­n (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain gave away the prizes.

Also present were SEDC general manager Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir, Deputy Police Commission­er of Sarawak Datuk Dev Kumar, SEDC deputy general manager cum event organising chairman Rakayah Hamdan and MAKSAK secretary Semawi Mohamad.

Twenty teams including five women teams from various government agencies took part in the tournament organised by MAKSAK and SEDC through Kelab Sosial Dan Rekreasi SEDC (Pedas).
