Woman among three suspects arrested for drug abuse
BAU: A woman was among three people arrested, for suspected drug abuse at a house at Kampung Melayu, Jalan Johari Sunchar here, yesterday.
Bau District police chief, DSP Poge Nyaon said, the arrests were made in a raid on the house by a team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) Bau around 10.50 pm yesterday.
“During the raid, the police arrested two men aged 17 and 37, and from the search, they found a cigarette box containing a small plastic packet filled with a crystalline substance believed to be Syabu with an estimated weight of 0.30g with a total cost of RM50.
“Also arrested in the same place, was a woman aged 37 who was tested positive for amphetamine and Methamphetamine and arrested under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Act 1952,” he said in a press statement here, yesterday.
Poge added that the male suspects were also arrested under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a)of the same act and were also tested positive for amphetamine dan Methamphetamine drugs.
However, he said, both male suspects do not have past offences.
Offences under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 are liable for a fine of not than RM100,000 or jail term not more than five years.
Meanwhile, under Section 15(1)(a) Dangerous Drug Act 1952, he said, if found guilty, the offender can face up to RM5,000 or jail not more than two years and with supervision order not less than two years and not more than three years.
