SAR team finds missing hunter safe and sound
SIBU: The search- and- rescue (SAR) team has found the man, who was reported missing while hunting at Bukit Dugan in Sungai Katibas, Song on Friday.
According to Fire and Rescue Department Sarawak Operations Centre, Daun Pau, aged 48, was found in the jungle around 12.30pm last Sunday.
“He was very weak at the time – he could not walk at all. He was first found by several local villagers, who were helping out in the SAR operation,” said the department’s spokesperson.
A missing report was lodged by Daun’s brother at 6pm last Saturday.
“The hunter was then brought to Song, on board a longboat.
“Upon arrival at the Song jetty, he was then taken to Song Health Clinic via ambulance,” said the spokesperson.
The SAR team comprised members of the police force, Fire and Rescue Department and the Malaysian Volunteers Corps Department ( Rela). MARUDI: Construction of the Marudi bridge across Batang Baram at Kuala Ridan is progressing well, with the pilling works to start most likely next week and it is a matter of time for the culvert design to be completed.
The contractor’s project coordinator Tiong Hock Yiok said this when inspecting the project site yesterday.
According to him, they are now waiting for the piling materials from Kuala Lumpur, which they expect to receive the latest by Sept 15.
He added the preliminary works such as clearing the diversion had been done without any hitch.
He thanked the public for their understanding and support for the project.
Construction works at the site are going at a heavy pace now.
Present during the site visit were project manager William Chan, sub-contractor Peter Hee and others officers.
