MIRI: An employer of an Indonesian maid who ran away after only two months, wants her and the agency which recommended her to settle her contract.

The employer who only wants to be identified as Ku, told reporters that the maid was hired after he consulted an agency in Sibu.

“After the paying RM10, 000, an agent from the agency recommended us to hire a 40year old Indonesian maid and based on our agreement, the employment period is about two years with monthly wages of RM900. The main purpose of us hiring a maid was to look after my bed-ridden mother.

“However, during the employment period, we realised that the maid behaved suspiciously. The first time when she tried to pack up her stuff to run away, we managed to halt her and prevent her from leaving.

“The second time, she ran away when no family members were at home. We were deeply disappointed with her irresponsible action,” said Ku.

Ku revealed that even though she and her family members lodged police report and managed to track down the maid, the latter refused return to work.

“She told us not to look for her again, and she had no intention to come back, even though we had held on to her passport. She wasn’t even interested in getting back her passport,” said Ku.

He called on the agency to settle the issue and return their money, at least half of the amount.

“The huge loss, had put us under great pressure both financially and emotionally,” she said.
