MRC Sibu’s ‘Joggerthon 2019-Run For Health’ raises RM60,000

SIBU: The Malaysian Red Crescent ( MRC) Sibu District’s ‘Joggerthon 2019-Run For Health’ last Sunday raised a total of RM60,000 for MRC Sibu District Fund.

According to organising chairperso­n Teresa Wong, the annual event always receives overwhelmi­ng response from the public.

Ta Ann Group of Companies chief executive officer Dato KH Wong flagged off the run, witnessed by MRC Sibu chairman Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee and Ta Ann Recreation­s Club president Ling Kuok Wei.

“The group has been supporting the event for many years,” said Teresa, adding that the proceeds from the event would be fully utilised to run numerous social and welfare activities, as well as some humanitari­an works.

“We (MRC Sibu) do not receive any grant from the government,” she pointed out.

In thanking all the sponsors, donors and supporters for all the prizes and also for the lucky draws, Teresa said such activity had always been able to bring everyone together – be they family members, relatives, friends and neighbours.

“Together, we can make a difference; together, we can raise money for charity.

“Additional­ly, such activity also promotes physical fitness and healthy lifestyles, aimed at allowing us to enjoy long, meaningful lives,” she added.
