SJK(C) Chung Hua Pujut to raise funds through charity sale
MIRI: The interest and need to learn new computer skills among students in SJK(C) Chung Hua Pujut has prompted the school board to look into ways to acquire sufficient digital equipment to meet the demand.
“Arising from these needs, the school decided to organise a charity sale to be held on Sept 29 at the school hall to raise funds for computer equipment,” said board chairman Kapitan Chai Kuen Ming.
SJK(C) Chung Hua Pujut was established in 1946 after the Second World War.
“Today, the school is a category A government aided Chinese primary school with well over 1,400 pupils and was ranked second in the number of pupils intake for 2020 in Miri region after SJK(C) Chung San in Riam,” Chai said recently.
Due to the increasing number of pupils, the facilities of the school can hardly accommodate these pupils, especially in providing equipment with modern digital technology.
According to Chai, the school is progressing well, not only in the academic aspect but also in extra-curricular activities and competitions.
“In both these aspects, the school had achieved outstanding results with numerous awards at divisional, state, national levels and even international level competitions in recent years,” he added.
He also said it is the mission of the school board for the students to excel in both academic performance and the aspects of personal development, sportsmanship, creativity and innovation.
“The expenses incurred for the pupils and teachers to participate in these extra curriculum activities and competition is a substantial amount which the school board needs to bear,” said Chai, while calling on parents and the public to support the charity sale.
