3 armed forces personnel injured in accident involving armoured car

ALOR GAJAH: Three armed forces personnel were injured after the armoured car carrier they were travelling in was involved in an accident along Jalan Bukit PutusGemen­cheh here on Tuesday.

Melaka Traffic Enforcemen­t and Investigat­ion Department Chief Supt Hasan Basri Yahya said the 4.30pm incident was believed to have occurred when the carrier they were travelling in went out of control while it was going downhill along the slippery road following heavy rain.

“The carrier skidded and collided into the left road divider before it overturned in the opposite lane. There were also two drivers in the vehicle but they were not injured,” he said when contacted here yesterday.

Hassan Basri said the three Armed Forces personnel who were injured were between the ages of 33 and 36 years, and suffered wounds in the leg and head have been sent to the Tampin Hospital, Negeri Sembilan for treatment.

He said the five from the Human Resource Branch at the Kementah Camp Military Headquarte­rs, Camp, Jalan Padang Tembak, Kuala Lumpur were traveling from the Syed Sirajuddin Military Camp in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan to Putrajaya to prepare for the 62nd National Day celebratio­ns.

Hasan Basri said he was informed that in the incident, nine carriers were transporti­ng 12 armoured cars, but the vehicle involved in the accident was not damaged. — Bernama
