Sime Darby names PNB GCEO Abdul Rahman as new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Bhd’s (PNB) president and group chief executive officer (GCEO), Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad, will assume the post of Sime Darby Bhd’s (Sime Darby) chairman, effective Oct 31, 2019.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Sime Darby said its current chairman, Tan Sri Dr Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah would retire from the board on Oct 31, 2019 due to health reasons.

It said Abdul Rahman would be joining Sime Darby as a nonindependent non- executive director on Sept 1, 2019, before assuming the chairman post.

“We look forward to a smooth transition of board leadership under Abdul Rahman’s direction,” said Sime Darby’s GCEO, Datuk Jeffri Salim Davidson.

Sime Darby is one of PNB’s key strategic companies, in which it owns a 52 per cent stake. — Bernama
