Deloitte M’sia, CPA Australia brings real life audit experience

KUCHING: Deloitte Malaysia is proud to announce the signing of CPA Australia as a partner in the Deloitte Audit Business Challenge ( D’ABC), an initiative designed to bring real life audit experience­s to undergradu­ate students hoping to gain a deeper understand­ing on what auditing really involves.

The agreement was signed between Stanley Teo, Audit and Assurance Leader of Deloitte Malaysia and Priya Terumalay, country head – Malaysia of CPA Australia.

“This partnershi­p serves as a statement of our shared commitment towards nurturing future talent and continuous­ly working with the leading profession­al bodies to elevate the standards of the accounting profession,” shared Teo during the signing ceremony.

Aimed at generating interest in the audit profession, students will be given a handson experience at networking and applying critical thinking skills to business, auditing, accounting and ethical issues. Open to all accounting and finance undergradu­ates in Malaysia, the challenge will comprise of workshops, quizzes, video submission­s and presentati­ons based on real life audit scenarios.

“D’ABC is designed to be a great platform and opportunit­y for students to be exposed to the reality of the audit and assurance profession. In today’s digital era, they’ll experience the latest auditing tools and understand the benefits of having profession­al accounting qualificat­ions.

“I strongly believe students will find this experience enlighteni­ng and valuable,” added Izzad Shamsudin, audit and assurance partner and Deloitte Audit Business Challenge organising chairman at Deloitte Malaysia.

Besides the opportunit­y to gain invaluable knowledge and skills, participan­ts of D’ABC also stand the chance to win cash prizes of up to RM8,000, engage in a “partner- tagging” session to experience a day in the life of an audit partner and the prospect of undertakin­g an internship at Deloitte Malaysia.

Also present at the signing ceremony were Yee Wing Peng, country managing partner of Deloitte Malaysia, Jimmy Lai, deputy audit and assurance Malaysia,” said leader of Deloitte Malaysia who is also deputy president of CPA Australia Malaysia Division, and representa­tives from CPA Australia, Ammitroy Singh, regional manager of Business Developmen­t SEA; April Chiew, senior manager of business developmen­t Malaysia and Serena Wu, senior business developmen­t manager.

As one of the world’s largest accounting bodies with a global membership of over 160,000 members, CPA Australia remains an important and prestigiou­s profession­al qualificat­ion.
