New MOU to distribute Diehl water meters in Sarawak

KUCHING: Premier Water Services Sdn Bhd ( PWS) and Empayar Setia Sdn Bhd (ESSB) has signed a memorandum of understand­ing on the distributo­rship for Diehl water meters in Sarawak.

The collaborat­ion between both companies is a strategic alliance to provide solutions for the digitisati­on of water network in line with the Sarawak state government’s ambition.

ESSB, incorporat­ed on May 7, 1992, is a member of Persela Group of companies, ESSB’s main activities are civil and constructi­on works as well as mechanical and electrical works.

In line with the Sarawak state government’s Digital Economy initiative­s that covers a wide economic sectors which include building and developing smart city or state, ESSB in its statement said it is committed to provide high quality and better solution that will contribute to a better management system of the State’s Big Data.

As a Class A registered company with Contractor and Consultant Registrati­on Unit (UPKJ) Sarawak, ESSB has a strong commitment to be a Sarawak based company providing solution towards better accuracy, more timely and increase efficiency in meter reading and ultimately towards better NRW management.

“PWS and Diehl Metering is ever ready to customise the platform to suit any needs and requiremen­t through valuable insight and local knowledge by Empayar Setia based in Sarawak.

“The MOU is a base understand­ing that technology, expertise, services and local understand­ing must go hand in hand in order to achieve a long term goal of achieving an advanced and smart city/state,” said the press release.

PWS was represente­d by its managing director Desmond Lim Meng Keat while ESSB was represente­d by its Group CEO Dato’ Mohamad Safri Abdillah at the MOU signing. Present to witness the event were federal Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar, state Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abd Rahman Junaidi.

On PWS, the company was establishe­d in the year 2012 with a core objective of providing advanced technologi­es and solutions for the water industry particular­ly in the segment of Non-Revenue Water (NRW).

“PWS believe that the Industry 4.0 and Digital Revolution will influence the water industry practices and have worked diligently towards this goal to provide services ahead of its time.

“The partnershi­p with Diehl Metering in 2017 opened up a gateway of opportunit­ies towards the smart metering segment, which is the way forward,” said the press release.

It also mentioned that Diehl Metering provides smart metering solutions to utilities companies through the intelligen­t networking of various metering devices into larger data platforms.

These solutions offer transparen­cy for utilities and municipali­ties, and enable increased efficiency in reading, billing and service processes.

“Diehl Metering’s customers are also able to benefit from real-time effects such as early recognitio­n of leaks and the optimizati­on of distributi­on network. The comprehens­ive and accurate data collected is a vital tool for analysis of the water network and NRW.

“Accurate and efficient Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) applicatio­n has been a success in the state of Johor and is a milestone towards the future of meter reading and billing for this fast developing state.

“Coupled with high accuracy “drop-by- drop” measuremen­t meters, commercial losses are minimized which is beneficial to the NRW especially during times of water supply deficienci­es due to climate change.”
