‘M’sian manufacturers can learn a lot from Taiwan’s IR4.0’
TAIPEI: Malaysian manufacturers can learn a lot from Taiwan’s advanced technologies as they embark on a digital transformation journey to embrace Industry 4.0 (IR 4.0).
Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) president, Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai said Taiwan has been acknowledged as a world-leading creator and user of digital technologies.
The island according to him, also sits at the forefront of IR4.0.
Meanwhile, Malaysia he said, has a strong manufacturing base, the third-fastest growth contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product, behind construction and services sectors.
“Transformation from traditional manufacturing to digitalisation and automation manufacturing would help Malaysian manufacturing industries to stay ahead and remain competitive globally.

On industrial collaboration, although Malaysia and Taiwan have yet to establish bilateral trade arrangement, Taiwan’s policy would lead to greater economic cooperation and extensive business opportunities, he said.
Taiwan said Soh, is a major export destination for Malaysian manufacturers, with bilateral trade grew 22.1 per cent last year, valued at US$ 23.73 billion (RM98.16 billion).
The island consistently emerged as among the top 10 investors in Malaysia, he noted.
As for the annual TaiwanMalaysia Industrial Collaboration Summit, which was its third series this year, the summit was aimed at mapping out the industrial foundation for bilateral cooperation and further
