Inti College Sabah receives industry, state awards
KOTA KINABALU: Inti College Sabah (Inti) recently received two awards in recognition for industry-relevant and innovative student curriculum.
The awards were presented by Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister and Sabah state Minister of Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau.
‘Industry Award and Recognition on Innovative and Industry Relevant Education Delivery’ and ‘Active Participation and Involvement with Borneo Ecotourism Solutions and Technologies (BEST), Borneo Eco Tours (BET) and Sukau Rainforest Lodge (SRL) Projects’ were awarded by SME Association of Sabah and Borneo Eco Tours respectively.
According to its press release, the awards recognises the college’s contribution to the industry through initiatives such as employer projects, Inti’s Industry Leadership Series and it’s unique Design Thinking modules.
During the award ceremony, SME Association of Sabah president Foo Ngee Kee said he was impressed with Inti’s industry initiatives which incorporate Design Thinking module into its curriculum.
Foo said leading universities such as Harvard, MIT and Stanford incorporate such methodology into their teaching and he was glad that Inti is adopting this effective solutionsbased approach for its students.
“This conscious effort speaks of the quality of education Inti is providing and also shows the institution’s commitment to prepare students with soft skills such as critical thinking, leadership and problem-solving, all of which, are skills that are pertinent for IR 4.0,” added Foo.
Meanwhile, Inti College Sabah chief executive Roselyn Chua said it was humbling to receive the recognition from the industry and Sabah state government.
Chua shared that the college has started equipping its students for the future workforce through innovative teaching and learning, and developing strong industry collaboration.
“These awards validate our efforts in industry collaboration and strengthening industry ties. I hope we can continue with industry partners to enhance our students’ development,” concluded Chua.
