Ulu Layar murder case: Cops seek whereabout­s of two Indonesian­s

KUCHING: Police are seeking two persons of interest to facilitate their investigat­ion into a recent assault case, which led to the death of a 31-year-old man.

The attack was alleged to have taken place at a rubber plantation in Ulu Layar, Betong, around 5.30pm on December 17.

In a statement issued yesterday, the police identified the two individual­s as ‘Ee’ and ‘Oni’ – both Indonesian­s.

Ee is said to be between 20 and 30 years old, with pimples on his face; while Oni is has a small build, aged between 30 and 40 years old.

“Those who have any informatio­n regarding the whereabout­s of these two men are required to contact the nearest police station,” said the police.

During a press conference held on Dec 18, Sarawak Police Commission­er Datuk Ramli Din confirmed the case, informing reporters that two male suspects had attacked a 31-year-old man and his 48-year-old assistant with a machete and a blunt object.

The assistant survived the attack as he managed to flee into the nearby jungle.

The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertaine­d.

It is learnt that the victim’s cash amounting to RM14,800 was untouched.
