-

LIMBANG: The Sarawak government has allocated RM1.5 billion under Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA) to implement various development projects including those in Batu Danau, says its assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang .

He said the allocation would be used to implement basic infrastructure, education, tourism, economy and other people-oriented projects.

He said this during ‘Leaders with People Session’ at Rumah Hellen in Ensurai yesterday.

He told the people that the state government was now in the process of supplying clean water supply to Batu Danau.

“The water supply is being carried out in four phases – phase 1 for Ubur junction to Ukong area, second for Ukong to Rumah Jubang at Tanah Merah, third for Medamit to Pulau Brunai, and fourth for Sg Medamit bridge to Kuala Medamit.”

He said the state government would also build a 14km road from Medamit to Rumah Aling Pulau Brunai via the hydro dam project.

He hoped the road project would be able to solve the communication issue at the areas, particular during flood.

A mini waterfront would also be built at Medamit jetty, and also a business space called ‘Anjung Usahawan’.

Touching on electricity supply, he said the implementation of the electricity supply for longhouses in the area was ongoing. Works were in progress at three longhouses in Melaban, Entakong and Selidong.

“This is the government’s commitment to ensure all longhouse in Batu Danau are connected to the electricity grid.”

Later at the same function, he handed over Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) membership cards to 567 news members in the area.

He also presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) totalling RM811,000 to 95 recipients comprising village development and security committee (JKKK) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
