Quick action of firemen saves three lives

MIRI: Quick action by personnel from Miri Fire and Rescue station saves the lives of three people including a twoyear-old girl from their rented room that caught fire on Friday night.

According to a statement from Zone 6 fire chief, Supt Law Poh Kiong, they received a distress call at 11.15pm and immediatel­y dispatched seven personnel to the scene, and five personnel from Lopeng as back-up.

“Upon arrival at the scene, they found that the rented rooms on the first floor were already engulfed in fire.

“They managed to save three people including a small girl from one of the burning rooms,” he said, adding that three other rented room were also affected by the fire. There are nine rented rooms on the first floor of the building.

No one was injured in the incident.

The operation ended at 1.13am.
