PBI continues to transform Miri’s landscape

-

MIRI: Pantai Batu Indah Sdn Bhd (PBI), a public-private partnership between stateowned Pelita Holdings Sdn Bhd and Samling Group of Companies, has spearheaded work to address congestion here and environmental threats from erosion and heavy siltation of the Miri River since the late 1990s.

A press release said the Miri City Mayor Awards 2019 corporate category recipient last weekend seeks ‘to expand downtown Miri with a visionary mixed-use seafront development that will set the new urban brand of Malaysia’.

Its mission is to expand downtown Miri towards the sea in a connected and innovative manner, to increase Miri’s economic reach to become a flourishing commercial and financial centre, to develop an iconic seafront destination that will put Miri on the map of Malaysia, and to set new urban standards which will promote better conditions for city life.

The physical landscape of Miri city has become lively and among the developments within Marina ParkCity thus far are infrastructure, residential, public amenities, and commercial buildings.

These developments offer platforms for cultural programmes and festive events, especially the 16-acre Miri Central Park where Coco Cabana is located and the recently completed Miri Times Square.

The development components with thoroughly planned to physically connect each other via green connectors, with vehicular and dedicated pedestrian networks.

Marina ParkCity is on its way to emerge as a sustainable city as everything will conveniently be within reach when completed.

At present, with only few parcels developed, the mission to increase Miri’s economic reach is materialising as Miri Times Square is flourishing with new commercial and financial institutions offering job opportunities for the local community.

Since its inception, PBI, through Marina ParkCity’s master plan development, has indeed brought positive changes to Miri city’s outlook overall.

With continuous support from the city and people, PBI believes its vision and mission can be achieved and further benefit its stakeholders and, more importantly, the people of Miri.
