-

KUALA LUMPUR : The men’s national No. 1 singles badminton player Lee Zii Jia has received a timely boost in his campaign to attain world’s top 10 ranking this year when he was appointed as ambassador for 100PLUS.

The 21-year-old shuttler from Kedah hoped with the cooperation and support from 100PLUS, he could produce better results this season.

“Thank you to Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and 100PLUS for choosing me as 100PLUS ambassador. With the cooperation, I hope to be more focused in training and create some new upsets.

“I am certain in the coming (Malaysian Masters) championships, I will be more confident in my game. I do not want to disappoint my sponsor,” said the 21-year-old from Kedah when signing the agreement with 100PLUS for two years.

Zii Jia also received a RM10,000 incentive from 100PLUS for winning the gold medal in the men’s singles at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Zii Jia has been given a tough draw at the Malaysia Masters 2020. He is down to meet world No. 4 Anders Antosen in his opening match. The Malaysian lost to the Danish player in their two earlier encounters.

Zii Jia, however, hoped the home ground advantage and the 100PLUS boost would see him prevail over the tournament’s third seed.
