PBB Telang Usan receives 32 new membership applications

-

MIRI: The Telang Usan branch of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) recently received 32 new membership applications.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau, who is the branch chief, credited the party’s steady membership growth to the confidence among the constituents that PBB would continue to deliver development under the state’s ruling coalition, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“After seeing and experiencing what the state government has done for the people of Telang Usan and Baram, the people realise who is really working hard for them. It’s none other than GPS,” he said during a ceremony to receive PBB membership application forms at Long Pilah in Ulu Baram recently.

Dennis said since he took over the branch leadership, PBB Telang Usan had consistently received membership applications, especially those from the younger generation.

“This is a result of our branch’s collective efforts, be it our youth wing under Telang Usan PBB Youth chief Councillor Dominic Nyurang, our Telang Usan PBB Women chief Councillor Margaret Nawan Uding, our main branch committee and all our committees – all working tirelessly in running various programmes and events throughout the years right after each election.

“We do not wait until it’s close to election to serve our constituency,” he said.

Commenting further, Dennis pointed out that among the many qualities that PBB possessed were strong discipline, honesty, genuineness and tremendous hard work no matter what the situation might be.

“I am confident more will join PBB as people become more attracted to the party’s struggles, which have brought huge changes to the lives of our rural people,” he added.

According to Dennis, today PBB Telang Usan has over 6,000 members, and targets to have 6,500 members before the next state election.

Meanwhile, Long Pilah Youth leader Petrus Ibau said he was impressed by and thankful for what Dennis, PBB and GPS had done to develop their longhouse.

“Today, we enjoy better living in our longhouse up in Ulu Baram with various basic facilities provided – the latest is the 24hour electricity supply,” he said.

Petrus vowed to reciprocate by supporting PBB, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Dennis.

“We realise, in order to bring basic development to very rural areas like Telang Usan, there is a definite need to have political stability in our state.

“Therefore, we want to do our part to ensure our state continues to develop,” he added.
