Slew of projects set to transform Kapit town — Jamit

KAPIT: Kapit town is set to benefit from a host of infrastruc­ture project that are currently being or set to be implemente­d, said Bukit Goram assemblyma­n Jefferson Jamit.

He said upon completion, these projects would provide the town with new facilities and give it a needed facelift.

“Since 2016, many big and small infrastruc­ture and amenity developmen­t projects have been implemente­d. Some have already been completed while others are ongoing.

“For this, I thank the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) government led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said during a dinner here Sunday organised

Jamit said the ongoing projects in the town are the constructi­on of the RM11 million multistore­y carpark at Jalan Yong Mok Chai, RM11 million Lily Pond beautifica­tion along Jalan Memora, RM5 million upgrading of Kapit Town Square and Kapit Waterfront, and upgrading of existing water treatment plant at Nanga Man.

He said two new projects slated for implementa­tion this year are the constructi­on of a new market, as well as the RM11 million river bank and slope protection works from Fort Sylvia to the small stream behind Rumah Temui.

“Kapit has greatly benefitted from the chief minister’s focus on rural areas through the Rural Transforma­tion Programme. Many infrastruc­ture and amenity projects have been planned and implemente­d for the benefit of the people.”
